In most cases, the dark streaks running down your shingles are a type of algae carried in by wind and birds. It thrives where moisture lingers, which is why it shows up first on shaded and north facing slopes. Moss and lichen often follow. Why Should a Roof Never Be Pressure Washed?

High pressure water strips the protective granules off asphalt shingles, and those granules are what shield your roof from the Texas sun. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association warns that high pressure washing is likely to damage asphalt roofing and should not be used. It recommends a cleaning solution applied at low pressure instead. That is exactly what soft washing is. A clean roof should never cost you years of roof life.

Cleaning makes a healthy roof look its best, but it does not fix damage. Because we are roofers, we will tell you honestly which situation you are in. As a general guide:

I’ve had Jeremy  come out to inspect my roof twice over the past five years, and both times, he gave me the same honest assessment: the roof still has a lot of life left in it. In an industry where it can be hard to know who to trust, I really appreciate that kind of integrity. If he had told me it needed replacing, I would have done it without question—but instead, he took the time to explain why it wasn’t necessary yet.

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with Branded E Construction! From the initial estimate to the completion of the job, Jeremy and his team demonstrated exceptional professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine pride in their work.

Did some extra work for no additional cost. Cleaned up their area.Supervision appeared to be experienced, trained, and very helpful and pleasant to interact with. Roof Soft Washing FAQ

Is soft washing safe for my shingles?

Yes. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning solution rather than force, which is the approach the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends for removing algae from asphalt shingles. High pressure washing is what damages roofs.

Will cleaning my roof affect my shingle warranty?

Shingle manufacturers warn against high pressure washing, and damage from improper cleaning may not be covered. Soft washing follows the low pressure approach the industry recommends. If you have questions about your specific warranty, we are glad to look at it with you.

How long do the results last?

It depends on shade, moisture, and nearby trees. Many roofs stay clean for several years. We will tell you what to expect for your home and how to keep it looking its best.

Is it safe for my plants and pets?

We take steps to protect landscaping before and after application, and we ask that pets and children stay inside while we work. Once the roof and surrounding areas are rinsed and dry, normal activity can resume.

Do I need to be home?

No. As long as we can access the property, we can complete the job while you are away. We will send you the before and after photos when we finish.
